The Penguins of Madagascar - Seasons 1-3 TvShow 1940 min. 2013
The Penguins of Madagascar is an American CGI animated television series airing on Nickelodeon. It stars nine characters from the DreamWorks Animation animated film Madagascar: The penguins Skipper, Kowalski, Private, and Rico; the lemurs King Julien, Maurice, and Mort; and Mason and Phil the chimpanzees. Characters new to the series include Marlene the otter and a zookeeper named Alice. It is the first Nicktoon produced with DreamWorks Animation. A pilot episode, "Gone in a Flash", aired as part of "Superstuffed Nicktoons Weekend" on November 29, 2008, and The Penguins of Madagascar became a regular series on March 28, 2009. The series premiere drew 6.1 million viewers, setting a new record as the most-watched premiere. Although the series occasionally alludes to the rest of the franchise, The Penguins of Madagascar does not take place at a precise time within it. McGrath, who is also the co-creator of the film characters, has said that the series takes place "not specifically before or after the movie, I just wanted them all back at the zoo. I think of it as taking place in a parallel universe."

Madagascar: A Little Wild (Seasons 1-5)

Start your marathon with the cutest version of our beloved animals: the baby crew in Madagascar: A Little Wild. The series is set in the Central Park Zoo, and it takes place long before Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, and Gloria the Hippo set off on their grand adventures. The first five seasons show their childhood dreams, friendships, and early adventures. Shaylin Becton, Tucker Chandler, and Lily Sanfelippo are just a few of the young animals that bring this story to life with their energy, humor, and heart. A Little Wild Holiday Goose Chase

Madagascar: A Little Wild - Holiday Goose Chase

Between seasons, take a wintry detour with Holiday Goose Chase, a charming special where the baby team experiences their first real Christmas. Picture a mashup of Home Alone and the zoo, with plenty of snowy fun, total chaos, and friendly competition. This special is a must-see for anyone who wants to follow the young crew's development. It fits perfectly between seasons 5 and 6.

Madagascar: A Little Wild (Seasons 6-8)

In the later seasons of A Little Wild, the characters get more depth, but don't worry, it's still fun and funny. People's desire to live "in the wild" is growing, and the adventures are getting bigger (and sometimes crazier). The dynamic between the four is what makes the series so great. It's great for binge-watching with snacks and a comfy blanket.

All Hail King Julien (Seasons 1-4)

Before he annoyed Marty and crowned himself king of every dance floor, Julien ruled his own kingdom in Madagascar. All Hail King Julien is set before the original films, giving us a peek into his crazy regime. Danny Jacobs does a great job playing King Julien on TV (a surprisingly good match for Sacha Baron Cohen), and you'll get to dive into lemur politics, fossas, and plenty of dance numbers. The series leads up to the fall of Julien's kingdom, and it's full of inside jokes about the later films.

All Hail King Julien: Exiled

This miniseries is a bit darker, but it still keeps that classic DreamWorks absurdity. Julien is exiled and has to reclaim his kingdom. Exiled covers the first four seasons and the finale of All Hail King Julien. The humor is still excellent, but you can feel the story moving towards its climax. And yes, Mort remains as cute as ever.

All Hail King Julien (Season 5)

The fifth and final round of Julien's reign mixes closure with preparation for what's to come. It sets the perfect stage for how Julien later welcomes his new "subjects" in Madagascar. His relationships with Maurice and Mort get even deeper, and the hints of contact with the New York animals soon add some extra fun for those who like to pay close attention.

Madagascar Penguins in a Christmas Caper

Take a quick, festive break with the franchise's most popular side characters: the penguins. The Madagascar Penguins in a Christmas Caper is a prequel set before the first film. The slapstick, gadgets, and covert ops humor are already in full swing. Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, and Private are the stars of this short mission around Christmas in the Zoo. If you're a fan of penguin chaos, this is a must-see.

Madagascar

Finally, the film that started it all: Madagascar from 2005. Ben Stiller is playing Alex, Chris Rock is playing Marty, David Schwimmer is playing Melman, and Jada Pinkett Smith is playing Gloria. When the animals unexpectedly find themselves in the wild, the grand adventure begins. The animation might seem a bit old-fashioned, but the humor, classic scenes (shoutout to "I like to move it"), and the introduction of King Julien make this a must-see in your marathon.

Merry Madagascar

Merry Madagascar takes place after the first film but before the second. This Christmas special is short but sweet. It shows how the crew struggles with the holidays on a tropical island. It's got a flying sleigh, a lost Santa, and, of course, penguins causing chaos. This is great for when you're in between two bigger movies, or if your marathon is around December.

Madagascar: Escape to Africa

In Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, our friends literally crash into the heart of the continent. Here, everyone goes through a little identity crisis (without giving too much away), and we explore themes like family and heritage a bit more. But don't worry: the penguins build a plane, King Julien performs tribal rituals, and the comedy remains top-notch. This middle piece of the trilogy is awesome. It's got stunning visuals and new, memorable side characters.

Madly Madagascar

Between the second and third films is Madly Madagascar, a Valentine's special focusing on love, friendship, and yes, afro hair. It's a light watch, and it won't take long, so it's perfect for taking a breather between longer films. It's got just enough extra character moments to make your marathon experience complete.

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

The trilogy ends with a bang in Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, with the classic Afro Circus number. The crew travels across Europe with a circus, meets new colorful characters, and tries to finally get home. The animation is top-notch, the action is on point, and the humor is still on point too. A great ending that brings everything together: friendship, adventure, and dancing animals on a tightrope.

Penguins of Madagascar

The penguins get their own movie in Penguins of Madagascar, a spy parody full of gadgets, secret organizations, and world-saving missions. This comes after the trilogy, but the pace and humor make it a fresh closer to the film segment. Tom McGrath, Chris Miller, and the rest of the voice cast deliver pure chaos fun. If you ever thought an octopus could take over the world, well, this is your movie.

The Penguins of Madagascar (TV series)

Want even more of the penguins? The Penguins of Madagascar is a TV series that fits between and after the films, but it feels like a standalone sitcom with animal spies. Each episode is like its own little adventure, and the dynamic between Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, and Private keeps things lively. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to the Madagascar universe, this series has endless entertainment and a fitting conclusion to your marathon.
